After that we drove to Sooke on the south coast of the island. We had lunch there and then continued on round the coast to French Beach Provincial Park. This is on the Juan de Fuca Straight close to the Pacific Ocean. It was much breezier here. The beach is large pebbles with a lot of trees washed ashore, some of which are huge. It was a popular thing to pile small pebbles up into shapes on the logs. Behind the beach was a pine forest which was very peaceful.
