Our information said that we could not pick up the camper van until 9 am so we waited in the airport until almost that time. When we arrived at the hire place we found we could have picked it up at 8 am!

We finally set off at 11 am and stopped at the nearest supermarket for supplies. We turned off the motorway to stop for lunch only to find we could not get back on. We ended up taking the scenic route which was much longer.

We passed a lot of trees which had scarlet flowers on bare branches. It was strange to see wisteria and camelias in full flower having been in autumn a day earlier. In one garden there were even geraniums in full flower at the same time.
