We turned off the main road for Legerwood where there are carved trees. After the First World War 7 trees were planted to commemorate the men who had died whilst serving in the war, 1 for Gallipoli and 1 for the Anzacs. In 1999 they were declared a safety risk and it was recommended that they were cut down. The village rallied together and enlisted a chainsaw carver to bring the soldiers back to life in sculpture. These were magnificent and well worth the detour.
