We decided to drive straight to Milford Sound to try to catch the 11.10 boat trip and sight see on the way back.

As we approached the high mountains the road climbed fairly steeply and we couldn't see which way the road went. As we got closer the road turned and passed high up through a valley which materialised.

The tunnel, which soon followed, was low, narrow and went steeply down hill.
