We hugged the North Island coast for a while and there was an announcement to say that because of the strong wind the conditions were 'less than favourable'!

We then left the coast and headed across the Cook Straight. The sea was a bit choppy and the crew brought round beakers of ice which they said would help with seasickness. As soon as they had done this and we turned to cross the Cook Straight to the South Island the sea calmed down!. Their cure worked!

When we turned into the Marlborough Sound it was calm. The sea was a wonderful turquoise colour. There were high hills, bare at the start and then green. There are many inlets and it is very beautiful.
