Sunday 4 October

Our Overlander train south was half an hour late leaving so it was 8 am before we set off.

The route was as follows:
Pukekohe - which is fertile land growing vegetables. Edmund Hillary came from here. He was a bee keeper and we have seen a lot of bee hives all over the island.

Huntly - which produces bricks and has a power station.

Ngaruawahia - is the Waikato Maori homeland.

We went over the Waikato River which is NZ's longest river at 354 km.
