Sunday 4 October
Our Overlander train south was half an hour late leaving so it was 8 am before we set off.
The route was as follows:
Pukekohe - which is fertile land growing vegetables. Edmund Hillary came from here. He was a bee keeper and we have seen a lot of bee hives all over the island.
Huntly - which produces bricks and has a power station.
Ngaruawahia - is the Waikato Maori homeland.
We went over the Waikato River which is NZ's longest river at 354 km.
